December in Review

Sorry for the long gap between posts. Sometimes you just don't feel like writing!

December was pretty eventful for the Anderson/Poull household. We met a great group of Americans at the KPMG expat dinner, hung out with a group of other expats at a Christmas fondue dinner, watched people swim across the river in Zurich (Brrr!), went skiing twice, and hosted 2 friends from Poland for a week over the new year. All in all we are settled in and really loving life in Switzerland! Here are some pictures of the hightlights.

The Zuri Swim is this insane event reminicent of the "polar bear" events in the states, however these people actually swim across the Limmat River in downtown Zurich just for fun. I thought it was for charity - it is not. The weather that day was SO COLD. We were dressed pretty appropriately and were still freezing, even after downing some hot coffee.

Phil and I freezing our booties off! Notice the guy in the background getting ready to swim.

These two guys were dressed up as penguins and fully in character from beginning to end. They dove into the water with their hands at their sides and squired an egg across the river!

A view from the bridge... they let people go in groups of 15-20 so they could watch everyone in case they need to be rescued.

One of the guys we knew needed to get rescued... it was dramatic but thankfully he was just really cold and never in real danger since the divers and police were right there.

We also went to a great holiday dinner with the expat group I am a part of. We had Fondue for the first time since we arrived in Zurich. It was delicious and we got to spend time with some really fantastic people from all over the world.

MMMmmmmmm cheese and bread!

Here is a random photo from Christmas in Zurich (courtesy of Phil's iPhone). This is the "Singing Christmas Tree" in one of the Christmas markets around the city. There are people on this giant tree singing Christmas songs. It was a very fun part of the holiday season.

And finally, some pictures from skiing in the Alps in Davos! It is quite different skiing in the Alps versus the Rockies. Here the view is breathtaking and you ski above the tree line for most of the runs. It is incredible. Again, these photos are from Phil's iPhone so they are not the best quality.

I am in the center of this one, waiting for my photographer fiance.

If you are jealous, come join us!

This coming weekend we are going up to Davos to spend a night in an actual igloo, so we will definitely have some fun pictures from that! Happy New Year everyone!
