Merry Christmas to Us! Skiing in Davos

For Christmas and Boxing Day this year, Phil and I went to Davos to go skiing. We had heard that the weather on Christmas Day was not going to be good for skiing but that didn't stop us. We braved the extremely low visibility, high winds, and heavy snow to hit the slopes. There was so much fresh powder that falling was almost fun! It was like skiing on a pillow of fluff. The blowing snow made some of the runs icy in spots followed by drifts. It was definitely an adventure! We were essentially skiing blind at times. There were only about 100 people on the entire mountain so when there wasn't anyone to follow, this is what the slopes looked like.

The second day of skiing was incredible. The slopes were covered in fresh snow that was nicely groomed on piste and there were some off piste areas that were covered in deep powder. The sun was shining too so we were able to fully appreciate the new snow. Phil says it was one of the most epic days he has skied, especially since he spent most of the day off piste in the deep powder. I had a tough time keeping up because my legs are so out of shape so I am going to give in and start working out so I can fully appreciate skiing again. It is tough to keep up with Phil when he is flying down the hill! He took this photo with his iPhone.

Our next scheduled ski vacation is a week in St. Anton in mid-February. Until then, I can be found doing squats, wall sits, and lunges during the day!

We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!
